The board-certified dermatologists at San Diego’s Cosmetic Laser Dermatology are known for their expertise in injectable treatments. Among those is an injectable treatment called Dysport that is used to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and crow’s feet. Our skin care specialists are San Diego Dysport experts who can give your face a rejuvenated, youthful appearance in just one anti-aging treatment.
What is Dysport?
Dysport uses the same principles as other neuromodulators like Botox wrinkle treatment. It is referred to as a “wrinkle relaxer” and works by stopping the signals that nerves send out in muscles, effectively relaxing them to stop muscle contractions, which can cause unsightly wrinkles and lines. The best part of this neuromodulator injection is the natural results that you will see very quickly. By injecting the product into specific areas, the other parts of your face will continue to contract normally, so natural facial expressions are unaffected.
Dysport injections can be done in just about an hour and your recovery time is virtually nonexistent. Dysport is one the fastest growing treatments for wrinkles and fine lines in plastic surgery today. To find out more, give the offices of Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego a call and schedule an anti-aging injection consultation.
This neuromodulator injection is commonly used to treat the following:
- Crow’s Feet
- 11 Lines
- Neck Bands
- Bunny Lines (Nose)
- Gummy Smile
- Excessive Sweating
- Chin Dimpling
- Droopy Brows

Q: What is the difference between Dysport and Botox?
A: For most doctors, explaining the difference between Dysport and Botox is like explaining Coke versus Pepsi. Botox is a more well-known wrinkle reduction treatment used to reduce the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles. While extremely popular, with millions of Botox procedures performed each year, Dysport is a great alternative. In 2009, Dysport became FDA approved and is marketed as having the same cosmetic benefits as Botox. Prior to this, Dysport was used in Europe for well over a decade as a popular Botox alternative. Both Dysport and Botox are forms of botulinum toxin type A that are used to relax movement in the muscles that create fine lines and wrinkles. Biologically and chemically, Dysport and Botox are almost identical, with slightly different molecular sizes, leading to different unit measurement.
Q: How long until Dysport results are visible?
A: Dysport usually starts to work in the treated areas within one to two days. Dysport results usually reach the full effect in about 10-14 days. However, statistically, the median number of patients treated with Dysport begin to see results by day three. In other words, half of the patients treated with Dysport see wrinkle-smoothing results before day three and a half see results afterward. Dysport patients are encouraged to follow-up 2 weeks after treatment to evaluate the results and whether additional injections are needed to achieve the desired effect.
